car glass vs regular glass

What makes car glass different from regular glass?

Auto Glass is a shatter proof laminated glass or tempered glass used to protect passengers from dirt, debris and winds in automotive vehicles.
Laminate glass was invented in 1903 on accident by the French chemist Édouard Bénédictus when he dropped a glass flask filled with a dried collodion film.
The glass cracked but did not shatter or lose it’s original shape!
After more experimentation laminate glass was created, a type of shatter-proof glass consisting of two layers of plate glass with a layer of cellulose between them.
However it was not until some time later that laminate glass was introduced in automobiles.
It was not until late 1919 that Ford started manufacturing their vehicles with this type of glass.
